As part of the complete refurbishment of New Street Station in Birmingham, the British Transport Police Station required brand new premises from which to support the travelling public, including offices and custodial suites. As the busiest railway terminus outside of London and with the station remaining open throughout the works, a number of challenges were faced. Not least the need to ensure the health and safety of passengers and station personnel travelling through the concourse, that there was no disruption to commuters or staff, and that – due to the nature of the works – the highest security and customer service standards were maintained.
Our team of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers worked closely with all partners and the senior project management teams from Network Rail, Mace and Shaylor Group to deliver a comprehensive solution which met every single one of the client’s requirements.
Complete new electrical and mechanical systems were installed across the whole premises, including the administrative offices, dedicated custodial suite and front counter. Architectural lighting was also installed throughout to provide real distinction to this state-of-the-art build.
We successfully delivered our works with a flexible approach and to complete client satisfaction
We successfully delivered our works with a flexible approach and to complete client satisfaction – despite considerable pressures relating to security, health and safety, logistical, and technical requirements. The new facility has replaced one which was considered no longer fit for purpose, and which now provides the British Transport Police with a much more suitable premises from which to serve the public.
It was a pleasure working with you and your team. What a professional company – a well-managed job considering project constraints.
